Local, Sustainable, Biodiverse
Healthy, alive soil produces healthy and nutritious crops. We are dedicated to building our soil on an ongoing basis. Our select varieties of plants and seeds have been developed over decades or in some cases centuries for outstanding flavor, texture, and nutrition. Only open pollinated varieties are used unless there are none available. We only use hybrid varieties if there are no other options available (examples of “best practices” philosophy). Varieties of vegetables that have been developed for commercial shipping, wholesale marketing, et cetera, are never used. We grow for you the same varieties that we grow for our kitchen - the best tasting available. Many of the seeds we use are heirloom. We are committed to reintroducing many of the vegetables and herbs nearly lost by commercial agriculture and factory farming.
